ところがまた、（他の女郎屋が）閉まって閉まって、わしばっかやろ。わしが責められたよ、他の探偵から。テレフォンかけてくるでしょ。ジャーマンドッグの大きなやつを、そこに置いときますでしょ。探偵だったらウーって言いますけどね、お客さんだったらウーって言わんもん。それから表にも、外にも、上がっても男を置いとくの。そして探偵来たらべっぴんさんに知らせて他のルームに逃がすの。切羽詰まった時はね、逃れん時はあるわ。逃れんことはありますよ。そういうときは罰金払った。私が悪うございましたってね。払ったらいいの。ノー、昔はジェイル（jail）は入りませんよ。
犬がいますよ。探偵の下働きがいますよ、犬がいますたい。犬は（顔が）分からん。裁判所に行ってみたら犬のルーモアがありますから。探偵がよ、ストロベッジのルーモアがあるから教えてやるから来いって言うから、私は内緒で行って、みんな喋るんですよ。あれがストロベッジだからなって。そのストロベッジを覚えとかなきゃだめですたい、目で。忘れたらやられてばっか。ストロベッジって犬ですよ。犬で、探偵につく犬です。ジャパンでいえば犬です。あのー、英語でいえば、ストロベッジ。日本人の犬はあんまいませんでしたな。日本人の犬はいませんが、チャイナの犬がいました。
昔は、５００円もやったら、一もにも無い、人間一人くらいすぐ殺してくれますよ。そぎゃんことは、殺生なことは頼みませんけど、知っていますよ、そういう話。昔大体のことはなんでも知ってます、私はなんでも存じております、こういうお話。
