Route of Cave Pioneering (cont’d)
Macleod is not an active place for caves. It was pioneered in the last few years and had some movement of people, but currently is dominated by a prostitute called Mona. Mona is of course her English name and she is a sister of a devil called Kigawa by blood. Kigawa previously worked in a mill in Vancouver. He migrated to this country as a single man but he followed somebody’s advice and brought a picture bride over from Japan. His wife’s name is Omatsu. When she came, his sister Mona also got on the ship and they landed in Seattle together. Mona also came to Seattle as a picture bride to join her husband. As for Omatsu, Kigawa, who was working at a mill then, traveled from Vancouver to pick her up. As for Mona, her husband later died from lung disease and she lost a person to depend on. Acting out of woman’s weakness, she was drawn by Nagata from Kumamoto Prefecture, who was then running a cave in Fernie, into the abyss of degeneracy. Mona is also from Kumamoto.
Mona, relying on Nagata, became a prostitute, and her brother Kigawa, hearing that their business is going well, also joined them with his wife Omatsu. Omatsu initially did not know that she was going to be a prostitute and she cried in despair day and night for the first ten days. Nagata already returned to Japan last year and the Kigawas now work for a devil called Maguchi in Calgary. The two women are completely changed now as if they are different people, and Mona is currently involved with a Chinese pimp and has him running a restaurant or something. Coward Kigawa is working hard every day as a cook at a brothel where his wife is housed.
There is a woman called Memmy, who is also housed where Mona works. As I mentioned a number of times earlier, she is the wife of devil Tsurutarō Mizoguchi, or Chatarō, and she is one of the influential pioneers of cave districts. Well, in fact, she is not his real wife. His real wife is in Japan, and Chatarō himself has currently returned to Japan to purchase prostitutes, and he just sent a prostitute off last summer. Apparently, Memmy has worked at a baseball field in Hongo, Tōkyō, and has a reputation for using ladylike language. She has been involved in prostitution in Calgary, has also been in Edmonton, failed in pioneering Mutsudēya*, and also successfully failed in her business after making a big move and building a cave in Moose Jaw. Lately her presence is diminished and she is unable to ignite her business.
