Route of Cave Pioneering (cont’d)
There is a town called Wakuya-cho eight miles away from Sendai. More specifically speaking, it is Wakuya-cho, Toda-gun, Rikuzen’nokuni, Miyagi Prefecture, and this is Satō’s hometown. It is a small town with a population of only 1,500 or 1,600. There is Wakuya-cho Elementary School and a teacher called Kunio Fujita. Satō’s parents’ house is located near or right at the back of Teacher Fujita’s house, and Satō used to study in this school. His family used to be wealthy but currently there are only Satō’s aged mother and his nephew Heizō living together. He also has a sister, who was working as a nurse at Miyagi Hospital in Sendai, but she has probably married into some family somewhere.
Hoshi never contacts his home and his aged mother has no knowledge of what he is doing in America. Apparently there was once a rumor in Wakuya-cho that he had a white wife somewhere around Seattle. Of course, they do not know that Takeshi is currently one of the devils in interior Canada and unable to make an appearance in society and act assertive. It is hopelessly unfilial that he works as a husband at a brothel, giving his aged mother trouble. Currently, Satō dominates the remote world of devils in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, with his illicit wife Osaki and three other prostitutes. He failed in Edmonton two years ago and moved there.
The Satō couple is raising a three-year-old child and they are planning to adopt and take the child back to Japan, but the child is not Satō’s, but is an Illegitimate baby whom a crippled prostitute called Michi Kawada gave birth to two years ago.
I will introduce Michi Kawada in detail in the future under a new section.
Anyway, the cave pioneering in Saskatoon was done by Satō’s hands. Currently, the wife of a renowned devil in Izu, Goemon Kashima, is also working for Satō and her younger sister Okichi was also pulled in last summer. We detailed Okichi in a series “Story—Proliferation of Devils,” which we published in the past. She was brought into Nelson by Chabujin and had some devil training (!) for a while. Later Chabujin had a negotiation with Sasto and Osaki travelled all the way to Nelson to welcome Okichi. By the way, Cranbrook was on the way for both ways of her trip but Osaki did not stop by and greet people there. There is a tendency in their society to carry out their deals discretely. However, the heaven knows, the land knows. When Okiyo, the wife of Jirō Hashimoto, who is a minion of devil Shinpei Matsumoto in Cranbrook, went to Hosmer to hide herself, she witnessed Osaki and Okichi on the train. “These women did not even know how to coordinate western dresses nicely yet,” told Okiyo later to her devil fellows back in Cranbrook.
