These primary sources present stories of Japanese (diasporic) sex workers who were involved in the transnational and interracial sex trade in the inter-imperial and settler colonial contexts of the mid-19th century through early 20th-century transpacific world. These portrayals are not necessarily facts, but constructions shaped by a particular set of beliefs, ideologies, experiences, memories, and structural forces, as well as individual styles of the creators, authors, and narrators. ここでは、19世紀半ばから20世紀半ばにかけて、国や人種の境界を越えて性労働に従事した日本人・日系人を題材とした一次史料を紹介する。複数の帝国による植民地拡大が展開する環太平洋地域が舞台となっている。ここに描かれたストーリーは必ずしも「事実」ではなく、作者／著者／話者のスタイル、特定の信条・イデオロギー、経験や記憶、また構造的な力関係のもとで脚色、演出、または再演された構築物である。これら史料の出版、制作された背景や、ストーリーの内容、またそれらのもつ政治、文化的な意味については、「モジュール」参照。新しい史料も随時追加予定。
